What was the relationship between Joshua and Moses?
Joshua was Moses’ aide from his youth. At God’s command, Moses laid his hands on him so that he would lead the people. Numbers 11:28; Numbers 27:18-23

And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man is wont to speak to his friend. And when he returned into the camp, his servant Josue the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from the tabernacle.
Exodus 32:17
And Josue hearing the noise of the people shouting, said to Moses: The noise of battle is heard in the camp.
