What Is Chasuble in the Bible?

Object

The long, sleeveless garment the priest wears on top to celebrate Mass. Its color changes with the season.

It can mean

  1. On top of what: it is worn over the alb and the stole.
  2. Its colors: white at Easter and Christmas. Red for the Passion and on the feasts of martyrs. Green in Ordinary Time. Violet in Advent and Lent.
  3. Rose: it may be worn on the Third Sunday of Advent and the Fourth Sunday of Lent.
  4. The deacon: does not wear a chasuble. His vestment is the dalmatic.
