For those who have died

To pray for those who have died: your parents, your grandparents, a friend, a child.

Eternal Rest

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.

A verse to pray with

John 11:25-26

25Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, although he be dead, shall live: 26And every one that liveth, and believeth in me, shall not die for ever. Believest thou this?

In our own words

Good Father, I entrust to you the one who has gone before us. You know their name and their story. Give them a place in your house, where there is no more weeping or pain. And give us comfort and hope. Amen.

What the Church teaches

The Church has prayed for the dead since the earliest times. And she encourages us to offer prayers for them, the Mass, almsgiving, indulgences, and works of penance.
