Hazeroth, in the wilderness

A place in the Bible

A place in the wilderness where the people of Israel camped, on the way to the promised land. In the Douay-Rheims it is called “Haseroth.”

What happened here

  1. Miriam and Aaron: they spoke against Moses because of his wife, who was from Ethiopia, and asked whether the Lord spoke only through Moses.
  2. Miriam’s leprosy: Miriam was covered with leprosy, white as snow. She stayed outside the camp seven days, and the people did not move on until she came back.
  3. Moving on: afterward, the people left Hazeroth and camped in the wilderness of Paran.

Today

No one knows for sure where it was. It would have been in the Sinai Peninsula.

Where it appears in the Bible
